Considering Creatine?

Considering Creatine?

I made a judgmental statement about Creatine so I thought it was ought some research. Very controversial supplement and it seems that most athletes don’t mind using it. Here is why I do and why the thought of it makes me gag.

Here is a quick rundown of how I came to my stand.

One pound of beef contains 2 grams of creatine.

For someone of my size I would need to use 6-10 grams daily and that is 3-5LBS of red meet a day. Another source claims only 2.7 grams is enough. Even 1.3 lbs of red meat a day does not really appeal to me no matter

a) how much I loooove a burger

b) at what level I need to exert myself.

In other words, this is NOT sustainable and healthy eating FOR ME and can not be maintained over time without the supplement. That is why I don’t care for creatine as pure supplement. If my diet naturally grows to demand more fuel then so be it but I don’t want to punish my body with this powder.

Then someone called me out on the fact that I do take some indirectly by using P90X Recovery Drink. On their website (not sure what side of the company is it…beachbody or extrembodyworkout) you will read that they state:

† Daily Value not established

Common BB guys, just be real about it and share this info as something we can relate to; so here is how I figured it out. This shake per serving (2 scoops of powder with 12oz of water) delivers 0.5 gram (500mg) of Creatine Monohydrate. This comes about 1/4lbs of red meat…a ‘burger worth’ of beef a day as a recovery drink? Maybe after some crazy marathon but not after every 1hr workout.

Sooo….what about that Creatine and what about some kind of Recovery Drink then? I am ok with this amount so far; reality is that P90X is intense program of 1hr per workout and 6/7 workouts per week! This IS pretty intense for someone like me and the Recovery Drink tub is only good for 30days which I indeed to use sporadically – over 60 days or so. I can easily switch to an alternative for recovery drink such as Endurox or Replenish by BodyFuel…even Gatorade would work. But really, this amount of creatine is negligible and used for recovery more than ‘growth’.

If you like to try it or learn more about creatine then read more about it and form your own stand. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. Speaking of the best supplement called sleep…it is time for a nice load while you do your own research.
